The Visiting Artists Program (VAP) is the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's oldest public program. Founded in 1868 when artists and scholars traveled to Chicago to exhibit, lecture, teach, and conduct studio visits, it was formalized in 1951 with the establishment of an endowed fund by Flora Mayer Witkowsky. VAP features some of the most compelling practitioners and thinkers working today. Their lectures, screenings, performances, conversations, or readings make it one of the citys leading public forums for the presentation and contemplation of contemporary art.
Reservations for groups of 10 or more must be made two weeks prior to the lecture. Otherwise, seating is on a first come, first served basis.
