The Fine Arts Building Collective was formed in 2007 and is comprised mainly of visual artists who have a studio in The Fine Arts Building. Also included in the group are individual galleries, musicians/performers, a Yoga studio and several other art related businesses.

The Collective holds monthly Open Studios on the second Friday of each month from 5-9 pm as well as some Saturdays (during special events such as Chicago Artists Month). Galleries in the building, Finestra, Art Exhibition Link, Gallery 531, The Second Floor Gallery, hold openings also on the second Fridays.

Guest artists are frequently a part of the mix with participants from The Flat Iron Building, among others, showing in individual studios, in the hallways or in the gallery spaces. The Second Floor Gallery is a part of the collective and has solo or small group themed shows with an annual members show in the fall. In this space, there are also independently curated shows with artists from outside the building several times a year.
